trio round 2

Hey everyone!

Well this last week was crazy. With my new calling I had a lot of days where I was in training meetings, but it was sooooooo helpful. My new companions are hermana romero, she is from mexico and arrived to chile with me, and hermana lance, she will be going home on the 17th :(.
we had and awesome week and worked really hard.

Saturday we did a huge service project of cleaning up a campground of a member where all of our zone and some recent converts came. it was a cool experience we had to help with so many people.

We also found some new investigaros this last week. olga, and 88 year old looking for peace in her life. Mitzy, a 20 year old who is preganant and the father doesnt want anything with the baby. Fianlly vaentina, who has shared witht the missionaries for a year before. The best part about all of the is that the Gospel of Jesus Christ can help them all in their different circumstances. I know it is so true. I have seen it happen for so many people. I love seeing the way the gospel really c hanges people and helps them to feel happy again. I testify of it. I have seen how it has changed me. It has really made me so happy. There is a saying here a ser mormon es ser feliz. It is so true. Through applying daily joyful repentance, using the atonement in our lives, we are just happier people. I love it. I challenge you guys to apply it in your own lives. it makes all of the difference.

Also the church has comeout with a new campaign called he is born...it think that is what it is in english ahhahaa ha nacido un salvador. it is a wonderful 2 minute video about why we have a savior and his love for us! I invite you all to watch it and reflect on what your savior has done for you.

Love you all

TRIO!

Hey everyone!

So there is one word that everyone in the mission fears.....trio.......well I got to hear that word this morning.........We got the call for cambios, yep it is that time again, and I got to hear that trasured word........I will now be in a trio with my dear hermana sterling and also our newest addition......Hermana Ellis! She is right our of her training like hermana Sterling, so that is fun! 3 gringas in the big city! aha

Well this last week was pretty chill. Not a lot new. Hermana Sterling and I both got the cold this last week so that was super fun. God was nice though and made it where if I was super bad she was a bit better and vice versa. I blame the rain one day and then 90 degree weather the next haha.

we worked a lot with less actives this week. We got some references from the ward this last week and we were going to visit the next day, and then just like every other cliche missionary story, we were walking in the street and we saw some people working in front of their house and asked if we could help. Turns out they are some menos activos that were a reference. We visited them that night and the next day, and they came to church on sunday. Patricia, the mom, was baptized a few years back and then found a boyfriend and went inactive. She has a son, 15, and a daughter, 8. So we will be working with them to get her daughter baptized because the son has already been baptized. They are a super awesome family. Love them!

We also got to go visit a member who served her mission in the temple square mission. So me and my companion got a once in a lifetime oppourtunity and tught her in English. One of the weirdest things ever because we are so used to teaching in spanish haha but it was awesome! She also told us a lot of experiences from her mission, and it helped us to see that really we are sent to a certaing mission for a reason.

We also had the groundbreaking ceremony of the concepcion temple this last week. It was amazing! We didnt get to go to the actual ceremony, but it was broadcasted to us, and there was a special spirit that cant be put into words. The Chileans have been waiting for this for 6 years now, and some of them were even crying during this ceremony with excitement. I think sometimes we take advantage of the easy access we have to the temple. I know I did.

Love you all and have a great week!

pensamientos de la semana

Hola mi querida familia y amoigos.....
well this last week was a good one! I dont think I can really say that I have ever had a bad week hahahah. We worked a lot this last week on getting to know our members a little bit more. I really can testify that this work doenst progress without the help of the members. We have seen a lot of help and progress with our members here! Especially with our heart attacks hahah I have done it in almost every sector, but I promise it works! hahaha
Well this last week was a good one with our investigators. Natalia, my chilean twin, came to church again and is having a hard time finding an answer that this is the true church. She is coming to all of the activities, now we are just trying to get her and answer! Rodrigo, 15 year old, is well.....he had a baptism interview this week and our district leader found out that rodrigo likes to street fight......two more weeks of waiting for that baptism......I didnt think that was breaking a commandment, but hey learnign new things everyday right? hahahah we also are working with inez, 70 year old lady, who is awesome.....she just has random visitors show up and she cant come to church.....she loves the book of mormon though! first investigator that that has happened hahahah LOVE IT! We gave it to  her friday and she is already in 2 nephi!
I guess a common thing is for people to not understand the way that the spirit works. I think even as members sometimes we expect a vision or dream or some sign that we are getting and answer to our prayers, but we have to remember that the Lord doesnt work like that. "by small and simple things, great things are brought to pass". I hope that this conference weekend we can all find the spirit in the small and some things and look for more ways to invite it into our lives.
Have an awesome week,

18 de Septiembre.......I think I am loosing my love for the 4th of July.....

Hey everyone!

So this last week was full of......food........like the food that is not good for you at all! Everyday was empanadas, meat ,potatoes ,and chileanitos.....like bread with marshmallow frosting hahah It was insane how much food we were given and just so you know the first rule as a missionary is that you cant reject food.......I am so sick of food hahhah

Other than a TON of food 18 was super awesome. 18 is the independance day for Chile and they celebrate a lot like the states but a little better hahaha. They have a national dance, the quaka, and everyone dances. They eat a ton of food and listen to music and have a lot of dance contests hahah. It was so much fun! We only got to be at our ward´s activity for about 2 hours, but we went and gave service to a family in the ward and helped them make empanadas for about 2 hours. It is intense their process haha but just know that I am now a seasoned empanada professional....so I´ve got that going for me hahaha.

Yes we had an earthquake in Chile this last week that lasted about 4 minutes. but wasnt too strong. It was basically like going on Tower of Terror hahah and the best part is that we were in the church building when it happened so no worries there. I think I love that Chileans are so similar to Californians because we all just sat there and kept going with our meeting but my comp from Utah was freaking out a bit hahaha

Well with all of the fun stuff we had a hard time finding a people to teach, but God is awesome and still let us see miracles! Like we were tracting in the morning and no one was letting us in....we were getting a bit discouraged, but God was awesome and had some random guy walk up to us on the street and ask if we could come visit him this next week. MIRACLE! Who does that? Well we have an appt with him this thursday so we will keep you guys posted, but God is awesome. He has timing for everything and when we do our part I KNOW he completes his. He gives us so many miracles each day we just have to look for them. I KNOW that God lives, that he loves me, and that he has a plan for me. I challenge you al to look for his miracles this week.

Love you all!

I love my job :)

Hey everyone!

SO this last week was a good one. I am seeing a lot of small miracles everyday, and loving what I do. Especially because my boss is so forgiving when I mess up hahaha.

We had stake conference this last week and well I really think that I am just appreciating things more now as a missionary haha. Like for realy I loved hearing about ways to improve myself, but also the people we teach. We had the opportunity to attend saturday with one of our investigators, Jonathan. He will be getting baptized this next week, and the best part was we had the area 70 talk about temples. How everything we do in this church has the end goal of us going to the temple and making covenants with out heavenly father. It is such a blessing we have this gospel and the opportunity to have our families forever. Sunday we had the most awesome session where they talked about keeping the sabbath day holy, and how our savior always is here to help us. I loved that one of the speakers said that our purpose in this life should be to align our purpose with God´s and have the same goals as him.

So we are teaching a family where they really are looking for the true religion. They have attended other churches before but never felt that they were right, well this last week they went and bought a bible to learn more......just as we were about to teach them about the book of mormon. hahah the dad, Nelson, told us when we first started, look I went and bought a bible! Right after buying it I wanted to be like one of those of those evanjelist pastors who gets in his car and reads his bible over a loud speaker in my car hahaha that made us laugh so hard....we didnt know that a bible could do that to some one.....just imagine what he will want to do with the book of mormon hhaha

Also I learned that I really dont have patience with children at all......like I know I dotn have patience with kids but I think it just gets worse as we are trying to teach a lesson. We had three lessons this last week with children annoying their parents as we were trying to teach and normally my companion and I try to tag team it where I teach part and she takes car of the kid and then we switch off, but it did not work AT ALL this last week......kids should be inviting the spirit not taking it away right? Patience is for sure a god like virtue hahahah

Anyways have an awesome week!

Love you all,

Flood the Earth

Hola mis queridos familia y amigos

Well this last week was a fun one! We had a lot of visits with investigators.....sadly none of them came to church yesterday, but we know that they will progress to a baptism for sure. OH shoot we did have an investigator! Jonathan! Well he is basically a member now because he shows up without our help hahaha. Sadly he was supposed to get baptized this next week, but some stuff went down and we had to change his date to the 29th.....prayers guys....please hahaha.

We also had a noche de capilla (family church evening haha) on saturday and it was super fun. Our little branch needs a lot of help, slowly but surely we are getting there! We have a lot of fun ideas for them, like this week they are all participating in a week of social media, I would like to invite you all to participate! They are using watsapp or facebook, but feel free to use any type of social media!

Monday : a quote from president monson
Tuesday : mormon message video
Wed : a quote from conference
thurs : a picture of the first presidency
fri : a quote from the family proclamation
satur : your favorite scripture
sun : a picture of the temple and your testimony.

We know that this is something that will help our little branch here to strengthen their testimony and share the gospel. I can make you guys the same promise. I know that finding and posting these things is an awesome way to share the gospel and do your part as a member missionary. I invite you all to heed the counsel of Elder Bednar when he
"What has been accomplished thus far in this dispensation communicating gospel messages through social media channels is a good beginning—but only a small trickle. I now extend to you the invitation to help transform the trickle into a flood. Beginning this day, I exhort you to sweep the earth with messages filled with righteousness and truth—messages that are authentic, edifying, and praiseworthy—and literally to sweep the earth as with a flood (see Moses 7:59–62)."
if you have questions or would like to learn more from Elder Bednar you can read it here

Love you all!

Have a great week!

Week of MIRACLES!!!

Hey everyone!

SO I know I say we see miracles a lot, but really our God is a God of miralces, and it is something I am so thankful for.

This first miracle is something I am still in shock. In all of my time here in Coelemu we have been working with an inactive Marcella, who stopped coming to church because one of the members basically stole her husband. This member is still active, and Marcella wasnt able to forgive this member. Well we have been working and working and working on forgiveness and her testimony (because this all happened like 30 years ago) and she came to church yesterday! She even had the guts to go up to this member, greet her, and be friends with her. Forgiveness is definatly a gift from God. This was a huge step for Marcella, and now we just have to work with her boyfriend to become her husband and then get baptized and then they can go to the temple.......okay yeah I am going to start small ahahhaha

Miracle 2 is that this week we had a ton of events happening, so we werent in Coelemu for 4 days......4 days of not working in our sector......and we found 9 new people to teach and in that there are two families. MIRACLE. It is amazing the blessings we are seeing here in Coelemu.

Also our invesitgator Jonathan is progressing to his baptism. He had his date for this saturday, but we had to change it to the next saturdaybecause of his ex girlfriend if you get what I am saying.....

Anyways lots of good things happening here!

Have an awesome week!

9 months and lots of Catholics

Hey everyone!

So yeah I completed 9 months in the mission this week. I am ofically on the downslope....that´s a word right? Anyways I have offically made it half way through my mission. It hasd bveen a crazy 9 months, but it has been such a life changing experience so far!

This week started off with a mini cambio with our hermana leaders. It was good! I learned a lot of my strengths and weaknesses. It is always interesting to see how others can see our strengths so easily buy so hard for us to see them. I think something that would all really help us is if we could see our strengths more than weaknesses, but then we might get a little prideful so better that we dont do that. hahaha

Something crazy that happened this week was that every new person that we found to teach was a super devoted Catholic. Good ol Hermana Monroy has a super good knowledge of the bible, so that came in good use ahaha. Catholics are so interesting because their views of God are so different. For example, we taught a girl named Chrsiting this week and she felt very strong that her baptism as a baby was something sufficient for her. We tried to talk with her and help her to see the difference in a baptism like Christ and her baptism, but it was something really difficult for her to understand. We are also teaching a woman named Chrsitina, she is awesome, Catholic, and with tons of questions. She hasnt been praying or reading the scriptures. She was very honest and told us it was due to a lack of habit. It is so interesting because I think that this is something even memebers of the church struggle with, lack of habit. I know as we make a habit of reading the scriptures and praying daily, we will see changes in our relationship with God and have happier lives. Who doesnt want that right? ahah

Love you all and hope you have an awesome week!

sopapillas, sickness, and suprises

Hola mi familia y amigos!

So week 7 in Coelemu completed! It was a fun one!

We started off with travelling to Tome to spend the night because we had zone confererence the next day. When we got to Tome we went to a ward activity there where we watched the Copa America and ate sopapillas....mmmmmm....hahahah also not worries guys our mission president permitted us that if Chile is playing we can watch the game.....lets just say Chile is winning a lot and I am so excited!!! }

So the next day we ahd our zone conference in Penco. It was a super good conference where president talked about following the spirit. It is something we dont think about. We know we have the spirit with us because it was promised to us after baptism, but how often do we seek and invite the spirit into our lives? Through living a life more like Christ, and being obedient to his commandments wer are promised to be guided by his spirit. I know that if we constanty strive to do the things that are right we will have the spirit to guide us and it will change our lives immensly.

That night we got back to Coelemu and went to work and I felt kinda sick, and I thought it was from all of the bus rides.......false........turns out there is stomach flu going around......round two! Gotta love the gringa life where food makes me sick....that night that I threw up in the street we found a woman named Gurminda who half way through tweaching her about baptism told us that she had to go cook once for her grandson......That´s a first........hahaha Oh man that was such a funny day.

Anyways I hope the stomach flu isnt going around up there and you guys can all have an awesome week!

Love you all!

3 companions in one week

Hola mis amigos!

So this last week was a bit crazy.....I had three companions in one week. Yep you read right! So Monday was cambios then tuesday I said bye to hermana Osborne and hello to Hermana Antileo! She is awesome! She is from Chile so that makes it even better!

On wednesday we went and did visits with an hermana from the branch to meent some new less actives if that makes sense hahhaa. Right as we were about to enter the first house I got a call from President Arrington telling me that we would be having an emergency cambio and that Hermana Antileo was leaving and I would be getting a new companion. WHAT. So we finished up the visits with this hermana and then Got a call from the assistants to the President telling that they would be coming in the night the next day to bring me my new companion. CRAZY.

So all of that happened and we got situated. My new companion is Hermana Monroy from Guatemala. She is awesome. She actually was in the same group as me to arrive here in Chile. So we are having tons of fun here and working super hard. Yesterday we had our first investigator in the church. His name is Jose and he is in his 30s he is super awesome, but has work that prevents him from coming to church for the next 3 weeks......pray for a miracle guys hahaha

Also today hermana monroy, the elders from Quirihue, and I went to a beach called Covquecura, appearantly on of the most famous beaches here in Chile. It was gorgeous and super fun also super cold haha. They have a bunch of huge rock formations there. They have one called la iglesia de piedra or rock church haha. The best part is the evanjelicas actually have church there. Nice!

Have a great week!

Week.....of....travelling.....

Hey everyone!

So this last week My comp and I were out of our sector....like 3 or 4 out of 7 days.....hahahha so productive! SO what happened is because we live so far out of the way of everything we stayed in Tome for a couple days because we had trainings in the mornings. Something awesome though is that this town that we were in is right on the beach so waking up and going to bed with the view of the ocean was definatly a perk haha

This last monday we had a family home evening with a family where we drew pictures of the boat nephi built and talked about obedience....they like drawing more than anything haha but it is funny how the children were such perfectionists! hahaha

We then had mini cambios with our hermana liders and it just happens that one of them is Hermana Fisher! My first comp from the mission. It was so crazy to be together again and see how much we have grown. I know so much now that I didnt know before....like spanish hahahah but also that through obedience and dilligence all things are possible. I know these two things bless the lives of anyone who possesses them.

Thank you all for your encouragement and love!

Have an awesome week!

Normal things that happen in the campo

Hey everyone!

So Coelemu is probably the most campo area that I have been in. I think that campo translates to country or like field hahaha but just know it is really rural.

So the coldness decided to show up this last week. Our first day of real rain I was using the space heater in the morning and my comp decided to use the microwave. The power went out. So something to know is that it is normal here for the power to go out when it starts raining. So we thought that this is what happened. So it gets to like 4 o clock and the power is still out.....uhhhh haha so I had the genius idea to talk to our neighbor. Yeah so we actually blew a fuse. hahahahah He showed us how to fix it no problem but it was like 10 degrees celcius all day with no heater? Yeah I had like 3 pairs of socks on no worries hahahhaha

Lets see oh also we work in a lot of secots outside of coelemu and this week we were in a place called Treweuco working with some members out there. It is amazing the difference in testimonies. There are people with reall strong testimonies who will come every sunday rain or shine and then there are some who will go inactive because they have to say too many prayers in church and their teeth hurt from it. Yes that was an excuse we got this last week. hahahah Please everyone dont be lazy. Read the scriptures. Say your prayers, even if your teeth hurt. Know why you do these things and be faithful.

Oh also we had a zone activity today hahha. Can I just say that they are like an efy dance but a million times more awkward because we cant dance? You get efy music playing and we are eating and there are some guys and girls talking but they are all really segregated hahahah so funny......I wish I could explain the awkwardness but it isnt possible.

I love you all and hope you have the best of weeks!

week 2 in Coelemu

Hey everyone!!!!
So this last week was a little slow. Not a ton of cool stories, sorry.
We had a fun lesson with a less active family where my compaion lost her name tag and the son found it haha so basically I have a new companion....he isnt very good at teaching lessons but we are teaching him and his family the importance of reading the scriptures..hahha The best part is that he showed up to chirch this last sunday with his family.
This is a really important part of missionary work, to reactivate the lesss actives or inactives. In the parable of the Lost sheep we see the importance of the one person. I encourage you all to reach out the the members 0of your ward and help those who are struggeling to their testimonies. We know how imprtant the Book of Mormon is. Read it everyday to strengthen your testimony and help you to help others.
Miss you all

ME VOY!

Hey everyone!

So as you can tell I will be leaving Bulnes tomorrow because we had cambios today! Wahooo. So I will be leaving bulnes to go to Coelemu which is about an hour from Concepcion. Wahooo hahah

This last week was a super good one though! Hermana Canchán was finoishing her mission this week so everyone in the rama wanted to have a noche de hogar with us. So every night this week we had a noche de hogar. Super fattening hahahaha. It also started raining here......bring on the deep fried food hahahah Literally it is all that Chileans eat in the winter.

SO saturday was a super awesome day! One because we had the suprise party for, my companion, hermana Lino´s birthday. She had no idea it was awesome! What made the day a million times better was that our investigator, now a recent convert, Pablo got baptized!!! Best thing ever! He is seriously so happy and you can see the gospel light shining through him. In talking to him after he told me that a lopt of his family was telling him not to get baptized but he looked at me and said " but I know that the trials arent bigger than the blessing". I freaking love this guy. If we could all remember this in our difficult times I know that it will help. It is so true that we all have so many trials in this life, but if we stay true to the commandments the blessings will outweigh the trial.

Love you all,

205 days in the mish

Hey everyone!!!

So this week was full of tons of fun stuff....especially eating new things. We had a memeber who decided that since we have never tried castañllos that we needed to try them so friday we got a call from thi9s member telling us to come over because we had to try them. So it is weird because we see these things in the street all of the time and they are in this fuzzy shell thing but yopu take them out o0f the shell thing and have this nut thing. Superrrrrr interesting. I have no idea what they are called in the states but adventures right? hahha

The next adventure is the next morning we had a morning of cleaning in the mission where in the casa de Bulnes we were moving all of our beds and stuff upstairs because we dont have bats anymore! Wahoooooo haha so Hermana Poulson and I were putting together our closet upstairs when we realized how broke we are and how awesome duct tape is. It seriously fixes EVERYTHING. haha magic.

We also had opur weekly family home evening with the Rama and one of the other hermanas in Bulnes finishes her mission this next week (hint: cambios qucikly approaching uh oh). So we were in the game part of the evening where they decided to play a prank on this hermana. I am always down for a good prank haha. So we played simon says and basically all of the commands were to have your hand on someone elses face. `hah basically this hermana had face paint all over her face by the end hahaha so funny.

The best part of this week though was meeting with our investigator Pablo. Seriously he is golden. He is so ready for his baptism this next week. He also strongly loves coming to church. Like he beat all of the members to the chapel yesterday hahaha. He learns so much and is so ready to follow the commandments. Like last week we learned about tithing and the next day he showed up to our lesson with a tithing slip and asked us if he could pay right now. Like for reals he is super prepàred to hear this gospel. His baptism is this next week and he couldnt be more excited. We can all learn from Pablo to have joy in obedience. I have definatly learned that from him.

Thank you for all of your love and support.
Have an awesome week!

Semana de conferencìas

Hey everyone!!!!!

Sooooo this last week we had two conferences and it started raining!!!! Wahoooooo well actually more than that happened this last week but here is the highlight reel. Ready?

Alright so this last week started with a zone conference where our mission president came out and taught us some legit stuff so be better missionaries. That same day we had a lesson with Pablo, our investigator. Can I just say he is an investigator of gold?!?!?! He is asking us to meet with him and is so excited for his baptism! Ahhh the blessings of the Lord.

Then saturday we had a confernce with all of the mission where we got to watch a transmission from Santiago where Elder Oaks from the 12 apostles was there talking to us. Somethng cool he did since he couldnt shake our hands was he had all of us stand up from the counbtries that we were from. Let´s just say that the US definatly won that contest hahahah. Something really awesome was that he told us of the importance of the sacrament and keeping the sabbath day holy. He say that in the next confernces we are going to hear a lot about these things because there is a need for the world to hear it. Also how we need to be fully converted to Chrsit and not the Church. Something powerful we all need to remember. Also I challenge you all to read the talk from Eldfer Nelson from this last conference. Super powerful and life changing talk.

To end, as a zone we visited the termas today. This legit mountain resort where we climbed to the top of the mountain and can I just say Chile is gorgeous?!?! Love it. There are also hot springs in the mountains....no I didnt go in dont worry, but there is a Chilean legend that the waters are healing hahahah DANG IT! I could have been healed.....I dont know from what but hey asi es la vida.

Have a great week!

The conference weekend

Hey everyone,

Soooo I hope you all had the wonderful opportunity to watch conference this last weekend. Seriously I feel like conference is the olymics of the mormon world....everyone has their favorite events (speakers) and we are all left waiting for the next time we get to have it. I have to say this is not the best analogy I have ever come up with butttttttttt it works hahahah

So let´s rewind a little bit to the beginnning of the week when I was introduced to the video Gracias a que èl vive...in english i think it is thankful that he lives or something like that? hahahha but anyways if you havent viewed this video yet please do it is 2 or 3 minutes and it an awesome way to remember why we have the Easter season.....it was yesterday but it is still important to remembver Christ.

Thennnnnnn fast forward two or three days and we have friday when it is the beginning of the celebration of the Pascua. Okay so here in Chile they had friday with no school or work so basically everyone was drinking. Yep that makes it a really fun day for a Gringa like me. We had a guy following us calling us a "par de brujas mormonas" which means a pair of mormon whitches hahahaha also in the night we passed by this group of drunk guys who say a mi no me gusta olas rubias and the other says a mi me gusta! That means one doesnt like me and one does hahahaha uhhh watch out!

The next day was conference, which yes I did get to watch it in english, on a little laptop in a room with Hermana Poulson seperate from everyone hahaa #gringalife. So basically all of the talks were amazing but I want to share a little from Elder Holldnd´s. I loved the story of the brother saving the other brother from his hands slipping and dying. The savior is our brother who sacrificed everything for us. He is always grabbing onto our hands to save us. Weather this live saving is spiritually or physically our brother is always there for us. When we reflect on his atonement please remeber that is something life changing that we always have the opportunity to use.

Love you all and have an awesome week!

week something or other...

Hey everyone!

So this last week was offically the beginning of fall.....whereas spring is in the air in the states....still so weird to think of the difference haha

We had our first rainfall of the year and it was awesome! We had tons of thunder and lightening and it was all anyone would talk about here for the whole week hahaha gotta love Chileans and their love for natural disasters hahah We were tracting this day and we had this tiny dog that would not leave our side and kept putting his dirty paws all over my dress so I became a dog tamer with my umbrella that day hahah win!

We have also found that here in Bulnes the members all like to give us fruit, which is delicious and awesome, and heavy to carry home. after a family home evening this week we had made brownies and the members gave us a melon to take home....people were laughing so hard to see me walking like this....dont worry guys I attached a picture for your amusement.

We also had a really good family home evening with some recent converts in the rama where we taught the talk you are my hands, by Elder Uchtdorf. It was an awesome lesson on how we can all serve our brothers aand sisters everyday and we need to make the choice to do so. We are the hands of Chrsit on this Earth. I hope everyone can reflect on the life of Christ this Easter sunday and what his purpose was on this Earth, to help others. In "the service of our fellow man we are only in the service of our God". I hope we can all look for ways to be the hands of Christ this week and reflect on all that he did for us.

I love you all and HAPPY EASTER!!!

BAPTISM!!!!

Hey everyone!

So this last week was so so so so so  awesome! We had  our first baptism here in bulnes! Well bulnes has had other baptisms haha but this is my  first here! So this last saturday was the  baptism of our investigator  Jenny.
Jenny is super aweome. She was  an investigater from my other companion hna  Antillon for aboput 6 months. A couple weeks ago we werre talking with Jenny and she told us she is ready for baptism. I about died!!! I am so happy for the changes she has made in her life and the opportunity that I had to help her in her journey. She has three daughters and this decision has changed their lives too. It is amazing her testimony of reading the scriptures and praying. She said that the two  combined is something life changing. Before she was living with a man who wanted to   kill her. She found the missionaries and her life completely changed. She now has a house for her and her 3 g irls and a  job to support them. The Lo rd blesses those willing to do his will. Amazing!!!

We then found a new f amily this last week. They have had previous experiences with the gospel and are so willing to change their lives to do the  will of the lord. GOLD. So exicted to have more experinces with them!

Today the 6 of us missionaries in bulnes traveled to a lagoon next to a population of Germans that immagrated here during WW2. CRAZY  to see blue eyed chileans hahaha. The lagoon was gorgeous. Funny story is though that we had no idea where is was. We literally took a  bus and got off at the part where we thought is was and hour and a half of waling later I asked a lady in her front yard where the lagoon was. She said it was 10  km away.....uhhhhh....then she was like hey I am a member of the church I will   drive you. hahahah the spirit working in  miraculous ways haha

Love you all and have an  awesome week!!!

Hey everyone!

SO this week was a lot of random stuff and I dont really have time to write sooo really fast

I had home made sushi and pastel de choclo (a chilean cornbread with chicken cooked inside of it) for the same meal.

I had a lot of trainging about how to be a better missionary.

I visited a 70 year old member jose who told me I have fat but beautiful hands.

Today for our pday all of the missionaries in Chillan visited a huge waterfall and hour and a half away and I got yelled at to not sit on the edge of the cliff....who would of thought that that was dangerous???? whoopsssss haha

I hope you guys all have and awesome week!!!

Love always

week....I don´t know how to count anymore...

Hola mi familia y amigos!!!!

So this last week was good!!! Like always...hahaha I dont think I have had one week where I have been like man this last week was horrible! Miracles of a mission hahaha just kidding

Sooooo this last week started off with interviews with president arrington. That is always fun haha it is like the birthday interviews with the bishop but he isnt asking me if I have a boyfriend or not haha wahoooo. Something he stressed with us was finding the joy in obedience and to look for more ways to be obedient. This is something I love. Rarely we thing of the blessings we recieve from being obedient, at least for me I am always thinking of how hard it is. When we look for the joy in obeying the commandments, is when we truely have the blessings of obedience in our lives.

This last friday we had a mini combio where I got to leave bulnes for a day and work in Chillan with an hermana leader for our area. This was super awesome and I learned so much about what I can fix in the way that I work. Something hilarious was I recieved my second flower from a random stranger haha this random guy walked across the street and gave me a rose. Yep second time this has happened to me on my mission. #gringalife haha

The next day I was in Bulnes again and we had a service activity where we helped a less active member to paint her house. Normally no big deal but appearantly they use oil based paint here and if you get it on your clothes it wont come out haha. So this member gave us jumpsuits to wear hahahah I looked like a prisioner.....oh the experiences I have here in Bulnes haha. Also the fact that out church here is accross the street from a prision makes it funnier for me hahah

Anyways that was my week! I hope you all can have an awesome week and talk to you all in another week!

Con mucho amor,

Hey everyone!!!!!

So this last week had a lot of twists and turns.

The first was getting the stomach flu on thursday. It was so much funnnnnn not hahah my comp and I both got it...I got it worse...of course hahaha so we didnt get to leave the house that day wahooooo.

The next day! We had a conference with one of the area 70 from Argentina. That was so fun to hear his accent. It was also a conference where a bunch of different zones got together so I got to see my old comps Hermana Fisher and Hermana Evenson! Wahooo Also we got KFC. Life was pretty good guys haha. It was really a good message he gave about how we can use the faith we have in this life to to be better missionaries. Somethibng for you guys though would be that if we really are obedient and doing the things that Lord asks us to do we are going to have the angels around us to life us up. Cool right?

The next day we had a ton of miracles. For example, My companion before hermana Lino, Hermana Antillon and I were trying to find this menos activo family for a month, and then hermana Lino decided to talk with this lady one night and it turns out to be this menos activo that we were looking for. It is amazing the miracles that can happen when we trust the timing of the lord and keep doing his will.

Love you all tons and hope you have an amazing week!!!!

Week of Adventures

Hey all

This last week was pretty crazy. We had transfers as you all know....fun stuff. I got a new companion! Hermana Lino from lima, Peru! So I also only have three weeks in Bulnes and I had to lead the area, which basically means that I make all of the plans for the days and have to lead us to those plans in the city. Yeah three weeks in one area and I am leading it. Wahooooo hahaha
It has definatly been an adventure....
So hermana Lino`'s first day in Bulnes was super fun! She showed up and my old comp had planned for us to go to an area that I had never been to before hahah we had fun in the campo and then even ran into some sheep and a ram haha......this country life tho.......
We have had fun so far this week like Hermana Lino tried to contact a school hahaha which means that she knocked the door of a school and tried to teach them the gospel hahahahha oh my gosh funniest thing almost ever hahahaha
We also had a lot of Family home evenings this week! For reals they are my new favorite thing haha which is so funny becauase I did not like them back home at all. The members are so funny and have the funniest games!
So also something awesome I am learning in my mission is to accept the Lords will. As we do this in our life and accept that he knows what is best for us and our lives. This is something really hard to do, but when we know that it is only going to make us stronger and better people it is a little bit easier.
I love you all and am so thankful for all of you!

4 MONTHS WAHOOOO

Hey all!

So one of these days I will feel cool enough to write you a paragraph in spanish but for today I am sticking to spanish hahah. This last week was full of BACAS....or in other words....COWS hahaha #campolife

We went and visited an hermana whose sister died this last week. She was feeling pretty alone so we travelled 20 minutes to go and visit her in the campo (country). So we shared the forget me not talk with her, and then she gave us watermelon and talked for a bit. We were getting ready to leave and we did the normal missionary line...it there anything we can do for you....SHE ACTUALLY SAID YES.....then she told us to come outside and she said some stuff in spanish and since I am not pro at spanish yet I didnt understand. I look at my comp and she told me we were going to go herd cows. WHAT haha oh my gosh guys funniest thing ever was my face...I am sure you can all imagine it....the look of disbelief mixed with I am not sure I am ready for this haha. SO they hand us eacha  stick and tell us to stand there and make sure they go in the carral. uhhhhh yep. This was definatley something I wont forget haha. Also the fact that one of the cows pooped a ton of green poop like a foot away from me. Yep cant forget that. hahahah

Then a couple days later I turned 4 months in the mission. Wahooo!!!! This day was yesterday actually. So in church yesterday the hermana that we visited also had to give a talk yesterday and it turns out that she loved the talk that we gave her so much that she decided to read it for her talk hahaha it is the small things like this in life that really help me to know that I am helping people. That just bringing this hermana a talk to read helped her to not feel alone. SO COOL!

So also today is the day that we have combios (transfers)! Yay!!!! So I am staying in Bulnes for another 6 weeks! Wahooo but my comp hermana Antillon is leaving :( So tomorrow I get my new comp, Hermana Lino and she is coming from  Chiguayante...I really think all of the names of these cities sound like something from Star Wars hahaha anyways

Have an awesome week and miss you all,

Hermana Godown

Come what may and love it!

Hey everyyone!

So this last week was a little crazy, but I dont think I have had a week in the mission that something random hasn´t happened hahah BIENVENIDOS A CHILE haha

So To start the week off we had a legit noche de hogar with a family that lives 20 mins out of Bulnes in the campo. SO cool. This hermana has her own garden with onions and tomatoes and watermelon. She let me pull an onion because I had never done it before haha seriously so crazy to see when food actually comes from. This family was the sweetest and is only inactive because they live so far away and dont have a way to get to the church each week. LAME.

so then the next morning we woke up and were getting ready to leave the casa to go running when we looked out, saw a dog walk up, started foaming at the mouth and having seizures. Uh yeah.......so appearantly someone has been going around and feeding the dogs poision because that was the 4th dog to die like that this week. Oh my goodness it was the grossest and saddest thing I had ever seen in my life. So we saw a dog die from poision and then that night we had to spend the night in Chillan because our house got fumigated for the mice that were in it. The things I never thought would happen on my mission hahaha

Our work is going well in Bulnes. We are still working with Francisco to quit smoking. He is so awesome though coming to all of the church activities, and has so many friends already!

I loved our class for all of the hermanas in the area this last week. It was based off the talk of Come What May and Love it. Such a good talk for this week. We learned to laugh off the bad things that happen and look for the good. It works guys. Try it. I know it is working. :)

Love you all! Have an amazing week!!!!

Hermana Godown

Pick up line of the week: Excuse me for looking at your gorgeous blue eyes. You are so cute....welcome to the life of a gringa guys hahahah

Lemme tell you a little story....week 10 in Chile.

Hola everyone!

Life here in Bulnes is good! Hot, but good! This last week was tons of fun! I got to go to the zone conference in Chillan and watch Meet the Mormons again! Wahooo makes me want to go to a football game so bad!!!! Enjoy it guys!

Also I had a lot of aqdventures this week! Like one day at lunch I found a super long black hair in my spaghetti....and had to eat all of it after finding that. Um learning not to vomit is a skill right? hahaha Also we had a morning where the mission assigned it as a day of cleaning so guess what my job was? Anyone know? Let me tell you that I used my skill of not vomiting. My job was to clean up all of the rat poop in our house. Yep not vomiting is definately a skill guys.

I am also learning that I am really oblivious to people hitting on me.....well at least in spanish hahaha. Hermana antillon and I were getting french fries one day and the dj in the plaza was calling out my name over the microphone....well he was saying rubia mire aqui.....yep didnt realize that. Hermana Antillion got a good laugh out of that one. Also we got free fries from that experience so she should be happy.....hahah

Last thing is our investigator Francisco. He is about 30 and he is super awesome! He is so strong in his desire to get baptism...the only thing holding him back is that he smokes :((((( We have been working with him for about 3 or 4 weeks here to help him. It is so amazing to see people changing their lives to follow Christ and his example. Franciso is such and example to me of having hope and to remember that I can do hard things. We all can.

Love you all and have an awesome

Hello Everyone!!!!!

So this last week was a crazy one for me!

This last tuesday Hermana Fisher and I were running home to not be late for curfew when we got a call from President Arrington, our mission president. The next day we had our zone conference with him and his wife so use being paranoid we thought we was at our casa and knew we were late hahaha so we booked it to the casa and answered the phone. Hermana Fisher is talking to him and all of a sudden her face gets reall serious and she puts the phone on speaker phone and I hear president say Hermana Godown and emergency transfer is happening and on thursday (it was tuesday) you will be transferring to Bulnes until the end of the combio. OHMYWHAT??!!?!?! He told us there was an hermana in Bulnes who was returing to the states for a health problem and they needed me with her companion and hermana fisher would be in a trio with the other hermanas in Bulnes. uhhhhhhhh what? SO that happened and we were so so shocked bey hey it´s what God wants right?

The next day was my loast day in cauquenes, but we had to travel to Linares for our zone conference with president. The conference was SUPER GOOD! We got to watch meet the mormons!!!! Ahhhhh finally!!!!! It was soooooo good you guys!!!!! If only every mormon were that cool hahahaha we also got american food and learned how to involve the member in moisionary work more ....so get involved guys! We need help hahah

The next day I said some goodbyes and then the assistants to the presiudents were thre and off we went to Bulnes. It was a bit difficult to leave my first sector and compainion but the lord as greater things in store for me!

So Bulnes is 30 mins from Chillan, a huge city wahoooooo!!!!! We have rats in our roof of our house wahoooo!!!! and I had to give a talk my 3 day in Bulnes in sacrament meeting! Wahooooo hahaha this ward is awesome though. The members are really involved from what I can tell!!

Our district went mini camping today so we had completos and smores! Wahooo oh and I fell in the river. SO what I am trying to say is life changes a lot in the mission but I am loving everyday!

Have a good week guys and remeber that it is the small things thqat make the biggest difference in your life. Alma 37

Hey everyone!

Life in Cauguenes is going good. So this last week was filled with tons of fun things like mimes, fires, and the beach!

Since it is really hot here, like 90 degrees every day, we have been have a lot of fires. Like one everyday. Most recently a 3 year old was playing with fires and burnt down 3 houses. Awesome. Something interesting is that literally everyone comes to these three houses to see the burnt mess. So in talking to people we were like hey what are you up to and literally every person for 2 days said the same thing: going to see the fire. So that was something interesting to learn.
The next day we had an activity with the other rama in estacion where the had a family home evening and there gamkke part was to have a mime show up haha. Actually the mime is the second counselor in the branch presidency so that was really funny.
Today we got to go to the beach! This is why I have no time to write today hahaha but it was sooooooo amazing to go to the beach! Something different is the sand is black here instad of white! Loved that! It was so gorgeous.
Something interesting is we were knowcking a lot of doors this week and one guys opened his door. looked at us. said - no. religion. chow. no. - and slammed his door on us hahahah we laughed so hard haha
Somethin I know is that the lord prepares his people to recieve this gospel and the blessing that come with it. Religion? Yes. My life would not be the same without this gospel. I am so proud to be a member of this church and serving good. We all have the agency to accept this gospel and follow the teachings of Christ.

Love you all!

Hola everyone!

So this last week was good!

We had new years eve which was a crazy day. Especially because basically everyone was drunk so Hermana Fisher and I had to fight off a lot of crazys....why does she have to have blonde hair and blue eyes? Goshhhhhh....haha anyways super good day where we got to meet with a lot of members and have food, always good in my book. Her and I got to eat with the same family from Christmas so basically the food was awesome. :)
New years day we weren´t allowed to leave the house until late in the day, like 4 pm, gotta love those drunk people making it nopt safe for us gringas ;) haha
Overall we have had a lot more help from the members this last week which has been amazing. We were able to help more of our less actives to come to church this last week because of this. Speaking of church we had an amazing testimony meeting. It is amazing for all of the members to get up and bear such a strong terstimony of the gospel and how missionaries have changed their lives. I am so blessed to be serving a mission where I can be helping people to grow closer to God and have a testimony of this gospel that changes their lives.
I hope you all can remember the time in your life when you were fully converted to this gospel, and can really help others to feel that too. It is an amazing experience to help people to know the true happiness that comes from this gospel. I can tell ytou all that my life would not be the same with out my testimony.
Thank you all for all that you do, and the lives that you change through your example. For 2015 we have been helping our members to make resolutions that are centered around coming to Chrsit. I invite youall to do the same and see how your life changes.

Love you,
Hermana Godown
